Figurd's Elementary school unpaid testimonial under our trial name
I have been a teacher for 2 years. My first year in the classroom, my students were struggling with their math facts and basic computation. We would practice flashcards every day. I taught them a variety of strategies to assist them, but nothing seemed to be working. My students were making gains, however, they were not quite where they needed to be. While working with Glenna Tabor on the implementation of the Tabor Rotation, she suggested Albert’s Insomnia as a way to not only practice those computation skills with the students, but to motivate the students and make learning fun. I purchased a copy and begin to use the game with my students around January of 2014. Since I am a first grade teacher, I introduced the game to the students using only addition and subtraction. Immediately after introducing the game, they were hooked! If it wasn’t a part of the station that day, they would beg to play it at the end of the day. My students were having fun while learning, what more could a teacher want! Math facts were no longer a dreaded part of the day, but a time the students were excited for. By the end of the year, my students were completing their math facts at 92% passing rate. Albert’s Insomnia has also been a great tool to differentiate for, and challenge, the above level students in my classroom. To my amazement, some of my students have begun to multiply! It has been truly amazing to see the learning that takes place in the classroom through Albert’s Insomnia! The students work as a team, they are engaged, and again, they are having a blast!
